The camouflage of
insects ties in with the changes of Mother Nature, when properly
used, conceal their identities when they hunt for food.
The milky flowers of Spiny Date Palm (Phoenix
hanceana) attract insects to collect the nectar. Crab spiders (Thomisidae)
do not know how to web. However, they make use of their body colour,
hide among the flowers to wait for the prey. The first to appear
was me holding my camera to be a looker-on. Then, a bee foolishly
flitted in and lingered among flowers; wandering from this flower to
another, then . . .
But, I, as the looker-on, went away at this very
moment; leaving behind much room for imagination.
