火焰木是近年常種的樹木，它的花紅色，像火焰，也像鬱金香．此樹尚有一個特色是木頭很輕，不像有堅實的結構．很多年前，有人提出此花散出臭味來吸引蝙蝠，但看它被的廣泛種植，相信此臭味道並不是那麼惡劣，也可能是聞到臭味的人不知道臭味從這漂亮的花朵而來． It is a common species in Hong Kong these days. Its Chinese name is 「flame wood」 as its flowers are red like flame and the form likes tulip. Another feature of this tree is that its wood is very light wood, as if the structure is not solid. Many years ago, it was suggested that its flowers gave off stinky odor to attract bats. However, if it』s widely planted, then I don』t think the odor is too disgusting. Or it maybe people do smell the odor, but do not know that it comes from these beautiful flowers. *translated by Mary Chung |
